All students should train twice a week in a class environment. Students are taught a vast amount of technique and to reinforce this learning it is beneficial for the student to attend classes regularly. Part of the discipline of Martial arts training is to test yourself against others, and the best way to do this is in a class situation. On top of this students should also train at home on a regular basis. When weapons are introduced for safety reasons and space issues there is always opportunity to train at the Dojo when instructors are present. It can also be difficult for juniors to remember techniques at the beginning, so if they are at class they can be sure to get the correct answers from their instructors or higher graded students. Discipline – The achievement of any kind of goal is a matter of execution, and execution is a matter of persistent and consistent action. Poor discipline simply means inconsistent action. You make a good start, but then you do not keep at it long enough to make that skill or habit a part of who you are. Respect - Must be earned, you cannot request or demand it, just because you hold a certain belt or level does not mean you are better or worse . It just means that you have learned a certain amount and can apply that knowledge to a certain level of understanding and ability. We should all remain humble because there is always so much more to learn, there is no limit to knowledge or to learning, and one of the things we as martial artists want, is to expand our knowledge base as well as improve upon the knowledge we already have, our understanding of the moves , the way that they impact upon our bodies and our health, and how we can use them in a self defence capacity. This applies equally well in Tai Chi and Kung fu. Issues/Concerns - With regard to any personal problems in the Gwoon please do not hesitate to come forward and see the Branch Chief Instructor. Any concerns, issues or problems will be kept in strict confidence and dealt with in a caring and professional manner. Our philosophy is that our egos are left at the door and the instructors learn as much from our students as the students learn from us. We actually mean this totally!
