Fundraiser
Thanks to everyone that helped out on Saturday. It was really nice seeing that everyone was happy to help out and really wanted to get stuck in. We raised $615.00 which is a good start. For those that have offered to sponsor a mat, it is really appreciated. This means we can get more and means more people can use the mats at the same time. All juniors earn their community stripe for this event - well done. Outstanding sales person of the day was Emma Hart and Glenn Tahu.
Latest Black Belts...
We wish to congratulate our latest Black Belts, Mr Campbell Van Sambeek, Mr Key, Miss Key, Mr Shah and Mr Banatao. Years of dedication have paid off for these five students and they are now sharing their knowledge as assistant instructors at various levels within the Dojo. Having a 7th and 8th Degree black belts present added extra pressure to their performance on the day. Also having our first junior black belts and seeing their personal growth has been a pleasure. They continue to grow in their new status as Shodan's (1st degree black belts). Oceania Championship....
Rising Dragon had an outstanding event and wish to congratulate all our competitors. Your hard work and extra training was well rewarded - 11 competitors from Rising Dragon came away with 24 trophies. For your first international event students that is a fantastic achievement. With competitors from Sydney, Brisbane and throughout New Zealand - friendships were developed and we hope you all thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. The Eden Park venue was spectacular and the opportunity to compete at a international level for our students was just great. We even have our first Oceania champion. Miss Blamey won the Oceania Championship - Sets - 6-12 years open division beating grades much higher than hers, Well done also to our other two juniors who competed. Mr Clow received a 1st placing and Mr Brewin a third. The competition was exceptional for the juniors and they now know whats expected for next years event.
